WHALES:
There are many types of whales surrounding Antarctic oceans. All over the world, there is an on going issue of whaling, and Antarctica is no exception. Many species are already extinct, and plenty of others have a constantly descreasing population. There is still a lot of controversy around whaling, and most of the attention drawn to it has been in a good way. There are many activists and communities who are doing everything possible to stop whaling. Save the gentle giants of the ocean, donate today.

Humpback whales get their name because of their habit of raising and bending their back in preparation for a dive. They are fairly slow swimmers and their skin is covered with a whole range of warts and bumps. They can live up to 50 years long.

The Southern Right whale is one of three species of Right whales. It has fairly dark grey or black skin, with some white patches on it's belly. They have two separate blow holes, and they produce a distinguishing V-shaped blow.

These whales are among the more elusive larger whales, for they rarely come close to land. There are very few photos captures of them under water. They are mostly seen in groups of 2-5. The can be up to 20 metres long, and can live up to 60 years long.
