ANTARCTICA:
Animals and plants
Some antarctic animals are threatened due to global warming, which causes the ice to melt therefore making the seas and oceans rise; the beaches can be destroyed of high tide.
Human impact has also caused Antarctic species to be brought close to extinction by polution from sewage and other contaminants and general interference.
Scientific research may also cause cause a threat if it is not undertaken with strict controls. Protection mearsures are underway to limit too much interference. Increasing tourism may cause problems.
Mining in Antarctica will also threaten animal life and will question sustainibility. As the mining techniques are not very evironmentally friendly, they need to be improved to reduce melting and to ease the rate of drilling.
Levels of carbon dioxide and melting ice are increasing and it will cause some animal species' extinction.
